Choose the combat role you want in the early party
Choose Scherazard for Arts and turn support, or Agate for physical damage and frequent S-Crafts. You make the choice before boarding for Ruan after the prologue, and the selected partner stays with Estelle through much of Chapter 3.
The unchosen character returns for a boss fight in Chapter 3’s Grancel section, then joins from Chapter 4. The initial travel choice is permanent, but it does not keep the other character out of the party forever.
Scherazard: Arts and faster ally turns
Heaven’s Kiss costs 100 CP in 2nd Chapter, increased from 90 CP in 1st Chapter. It brings the other three characters’ turns forward, making Scherazard valuable for turn support.
Her strong Arts line and two Wind slots help her use Aero Storm, Sylphen Wing and eventually Sylpharion. Pick her when you want your partner to concentrate on Arts and supporting the rest of the party.
Agate: physical pressure and repeated S-Crafts
Agate generates CP with Wild Rage, Estelle’s Morale regeneration and his Heat Up support skill. This can fuel repeated S-Crafts.
Watch his HP before using Wild Rage. At low HP it can leave him at 1 HP; using it while already at 1 HP drops him to 0.
Physical damage is more effective here than in the original game, while Arts remain strong. Good Arts users are more plentiful than physical damage specialists, giving Agate a useful niche.
Story, quests and Bracer Points
The story and most quests play out essentially the same with either partner. Their BP routes have the same point potential.
Winners Wanted is the quest whose sequence differs by partner. Either way, you must win a hand to clear the request; losing fails it. There is no bonus BP for this quest.
Before you board for Ruan
- Will I lose access to the other partner permanently?
- No. The unchosen partner appears for a Chapter 3 boss fight in Grancel and joins from Chapter 4.
- Does one partner offer more Bracer Points?
- The BP routes have no point difference between partners. Winners Wanted changes its sequence, but neither route awards bonus BP for it.
